Hello

Hi, I’m Alice! I’m a mum of two, a former engineer and teacher, and the creator of Wonder Create Play and WonderLAB.

I’ve spent over a decade blending engineering, industrial consultancy, and classroom teaching, and now I use that experience to lead fun, hands-on STEAM classes that inspire the innovators of tomorrow.

My Story

Originally from Stoke-on-Trent, I grew up in a big, creative family where we were always building, experimenting, and learning through hands-on play. One of my earliest memories is wandering through a DIY store, fascinated by the feel and sound of nuts, bolts, and screws. My parents instilled in me the belief that with the right skills and tools, you could make anything—an ethos that led me to design and create prom dresses for myself and my friends in high school!

I went on to study Industrial Design at Loughborough University and spent seven years working as a process engineer and consultant across medical devices, pottery, clothing, and product safety. During this time, I had the transformative experience of working with a special needs school as a STEM ambassador, building and racing a kit car with the students at Goodwood—a moment that confirmed my love for teaching and hands-on learning.

In 2017, I completed my primary school teacher training, and since then I’ve combined my engineering and teaching experience to design and lead hands-on STEAM classes that inspire the innovators of tomorrow. As the creator of Wonder Create Play and WonderLAB, I deliver sessions in schools, nurseries, community settings, and online, helping children explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, perseverance, and growth mindset skills.

Becoming a mum to Robyn and Rory strengthened my passion for giving children opportunities to explore, experiment, and play through meaningful activities. I love creating moments where children experience that same spark of curiosity and joy that first inspired me.
